Autism Advocacy and Events

As a mother to a child on the Autism Spectrum, Becky Large has made it her mission to provide families with children with Autism the opportunity to experience "normal" family outings.  Beginning in Spring of 2013, Becky started a Sensory Friendly movie program, where the lights are turned up, the sound is turned down and children are free to move around, at the Grand 14 in Market Common.  The parents were delighted by the program and asked what other Autism and Sensory friendly events there were.

Motivated by the excitement of the families, Becky wrote a grant with SOS Healthcare, Inc., and was awarded funds by the United Way to start the Autism Community Education, or ACE, Program.  The ACE Program is to educate area businesses, venues and restaurants about the sensory needs of families with children with Autism, educate the community about Autism and raise Autism Awareness.  Donations can be made to SOS Healthcare, Inc.

If your business would like to be trained in the sensory needs of children with Autism, please contact Becky at
